Brandy Jo Matye I was born a poor injun's daughter, raised in the high desert of California on our family farm. We raised cattle, had chickens, planted gardens, hunted and gathered food, in addition to working factory jobs. My parents have instilled in me a deep spiritual connection to Mother Earth, following our native way, creating self-reliance and a respect for all creatures big or small. And to never fear the unknown. My interest in arts & crafts began at the age of two with finger-paints and beads "oh pretty colors". This continued on through the local parades, the pow-wow circuit, ceremonies, and giving my stepmother an extra hand in her Title Nine classes. My husband and I, along with our son and my mom, have been residents of Mount Hood since 1994 after living in the Southern Oregon Cascades where the rest of our family resides. Heritage: Blackfeet/Cree, French-mixed European Media: Leather, Beads, Rawhide, Feathers, Fur, Bone, Stone and other natural materials. Also acrylic and pastels.
